DJ Uiagalelei has done an excellent job of protecting the ball so far this season.

It’s one of the reasons why Clemson’s offense has rebounded in 2022. According to Pro Football Focus, Uiagalelei has had a “turnover-worthy play” on just 1.2% of snaps this season.

That’s tied for third nationally, behind only Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel and LSU’s Jayden Daniels.

Uiagalelei only has 2 interceptions this season and has done a great job of cutting down on turnovers. Last year, he had 10 picks despite throwing the ball roughly 28 times per game. He’s averaging 30.57 pass attempts per contest so far in 2022.

Protecting the ball will be a major talking point for Clemson this week as it takes on an aggressive Syracuse defense. The Orange have 9 takeaways in 6 games so far this season.

The winner of Clemson-Syracuse will take over sole possession of first place in the ACC Atlantic division. This is Syracuse’s first ACC road game of the season.

Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
