ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome in Clemson-NC State game

Clemson will host NC State in a top 10 matchup on Saturday night in Death Valley.

The Tigers are favored by a touchdown in the game, but ESPN’s Football Power Index is forecasting a lopsided matchup.

According to FPI

, Clemson has a 83.4% chance to come away with the win on Saturday night. NC State is looking for its second consecutive win over the Tigers.

Both teams enter this game with a 4-0 record. NC State played better since its Week 1 scare vs. East Carolina. The Wolfpack needed a couple missed kicks from the Pirates in order to survive that matchup.

Clemson seems to be trending in t

he other direction — at least on defense. The Tigers gave up 6 touchdown passes to Sam Hartman and Wake Forest last week. They needed double overtime to get by the Demon Deacons with a win.

Clemson’s offense has been better in recent weeks, however. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei threw 5 touchdowns in that game and running back Will Shipley leads the ACC with 7 rushing scores.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
