Clemson held strong at No. 6 in this week’s updated FPI rankings after its win over Syracuse this weekend.

The Tigers (19.1) narrowly missed out on passing Texas (19.2) for a top-5 ranking. The Longhorns did drop one spot after their loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday — UT’s third defeat of the season.

However, with the win, Clemson significantly increased its odds of accomplishing several of its goals this season. The Tigers now have a 99.8% chance of winning the Atlantic division, per FPI.

Clemson has now defeated all of its top challengers for the division title: NC State, Wake Forest, Florida State and Syracuse. This would be the Tigers’ first division title since the 2019 season.

Clemson has has an 82.3% chance of winning the ACC Championship, per FPI. Entering Week 9, North Carolina is the heavy favorite to win the Coastal. However, FPI gives the Tar Heels just a 15.9% chance to win the ACC title game.

Clemson is also closing in on a College Football Playoff berth for the first time since 2020. With an 8-0 record and three ranked wins, there aren’t many teams in the country with a better Playoff résumé.

FPI gives Clemson a 61.8% chance to make the Playoff and a 7.7% chance to win the National Championship. As Clemson continues to win regular season games, both of those percentages will likely rise accordingly.

Clemson is off in Week 9 but will face Notre Dame on the road in Week 10.
