Former Clemson quarterback Taisun Phommachanh has picked his next program.

Phommachanh is transferring to Georgia Tech, he announced on Monday afternoon. The former Tiger entered the transfer portal several months ago after not receiving much playing time in 3 years with the Tigers.

Here’s his announcement:

Phommachanh likely won’t be the full-time starter at Georgia Tech this season, but he could still contribute in certain situations. The Yellow Jackets are returning last year’s starting quarterback, Jeff Sims.

In 3 years at Clemson, Phommachanh threw for 204 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions. He was more productive on the ground, rushing for 150 yards and 1 touchdown on 30 carries.

The Tigers are expected to start D.J. Uiagalelei again at quarterback this season. If he struggles, the Tigers could turn to 5-star freshman Cade Klubnik. It’s likely Phommachanh would have been No. 3 on the depth chart this year if he had stayed with Clemson.

Phommachanh will get a chance at “revenge” very early on in the season. Clemson opens the 2022 campaign against Georgia Tech on Sept. 5.
