Joe Girard will withdraw from the 2023 NBA Draft and play for Clemson next season.

The former Syracuse guard reportedly made that decision on Friday. That’s per college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, who cites a conversation with Girard’s agent.

Girard made the decision to transfer to Clemson earlier this offseason, but kept his name in the NBA Draft until this week.

He spent the previous 4 seasons at Syracuse, where he developed into one of the top scoring guards in the ACC. Girard averaged more than 16 points per game last season.

He joins a Clemson team that’s hoping to take a big step next season. The Tigers just missed out on reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2023.

Girard is 1 of 4 transfers Clemson has added this offseason. He’s expected to start at point guard for the Tigers in 2023-24, which will be his final year of collegiate eligibility.
