Clemson defensive lineman Bryan Bresee will not play on Saturday night vs. NC State, the program confirmed on Saturday afternoon.
TigersIllustrated’s Larry Williams was first to report the news, citing a kidney-related issue. Bresee reportedly spent time in the hospital this week. However, the issue is not expected to be a longterm problem.
Here’s a statement from Clemson spokesman Ross Taylor, obtained by TigerIllustrated:
“Bryan Bresee experienced a non-football medical issue that required bloodwork and observation this week. The Bresee family received good news on those tests late this week, and this is not expected to be a long-term issue.”
Bresee is a major loss for Clemson’s defensive line in this contest. He’s one of Clemson’s most talented defensive players.
On a personal level for the Bresee family, it’s also another tough situation. Bryan’s younger sister, Ella, passed away last month after a battle with cancer. ESPN’s College GameDay aired a tribute to her story on Saturday morning
.
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET.
