ESPN’s Rece Davis is confident in Clemson this weekend.
On an episode of the College GameDay podcast, Davis said he thinks Clemson will comfortably defeat Wake Forest in Winston-Salem on Saturday.
Davis pointed to Clemson’s advantage in the trenches — at least when the Tigers are on defense — as a major matchup problem for Wake Forest.
“There are certain teams that don’t match up well,” Davis said. “And the way you blow up the slow mesh, is by having defensive linemen who eat up the offensive line and the backfield.”
History is certainly on Davis’ said. Clemson has won 13 straight contests vs. Wake Forest — that’s every meeting in the Dabo Swinney era. Most of those wins came by 2+ touchdowns.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel agreed with Davis’ pick, noting Wake Forest’s struggles with Liberty’s defensive line in Week 3.
