Report: 5-star 2023 QB Arch Manning eliminates Clemson from top 5
5-star quarterback prospect Arch Manning has reportedly removed Clemson from his list of five finalists.
That’s according to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, who notes that Manning has visited Clemson multiple times during his recruitment.
Manning is still considering Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas, per reports.. His uncle, Eli Manning, starred at Ole Miss from 2000-03.
This would be a bigger blow for Clemson, but there’s evidence that the Tigers have already moved on. 4-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina was on campus for Clemson’s junior day in late January.
If the Tigers land Vizzina, it would give them one of the best quarterback prospects in the country — hardly a consolation prize for missing out on Manning.
It’s also worth noting that it would have been an awkward fit alongside 2022 5-star quarterback signee Cade Klubnik. Manning would have arrived just one year after Klubnik and potentially would have been asked to be a backup for two seasons.
Klubnik and the rest of the Tigers will start spring practice on March 2.
