Clemson defensive lineman Xavier Thomas suffered a potentially serious injury in the Tigers’ scrimmage on Saturday, according to a report.

That’s per The Clemson Insider, who says it spotted Thomas being carted out of the stadium alongside a trainer.

While Clemson has not confirmed that Thomas suffered an injury, he tweeted these cryptic messages on Saturday afternoon:

Thomas is expected to be a big part of Clemson’s defensive line this season. He turned down NFL opportunities to come back to school to help Clemson get back to the College Football Playoff and improve his draft stock.

Last season, Thomas recorded 6.5 tackles for loss and a career-high 4.5 sacks. This will be his 5th season at Clemson and he already has 13 sacks in his career.

He’s set to be Clemson’s senior leader on a defensive line that’s expected to be amongst the best in the country. The unit also includes top NFL Draft prospects like Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee.

Dabo Swinney is expected to meet with the media on Saturday afternoon.
