Lawrence completed 24 of his 32 passes for 241 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception in his 2023 debut. Lawrence tossed both of his touchdowns during the first half, one to Calvin Ridley in the first quarter and the other to Zay Jones in the second quarter.
The Jaguars rallied with a pair of rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Last season, the 23-year-old Lawrence made his first Pro Bowl while guiding the Jaguars to the division round of the playoffs.
While at Clemson, Lawrence captured a national title in 2018 while also earning ACC Athlete of the Year (2021), ACC Player of the Year (2020), and a First-team All-American nod (2020).
Lawrence played high school in Georgia but recently explained why he committed to the Tigers instead of the Bulldogs, with head coach Dabo Swinney as a primary factor.
Clemson hosts Florida Atlantic in Week 3 on Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. EST. Coverage will be on the ACC Network.
