Clemson defensive end Xavier Thomas still does not have a clear timeline for when he will return from foot surgery.

Thomas suffered a broken foot in the offseason and underwent surgery 6 weeks ago. He was optimistic that he would be able to return against Louisiana Tech in Week 3, but he was unable to get back in time for that game.

In addition to missing the 1st 3 games of the season, he also missed last Saturday’s game against Wake Forest. In a Twitter post, Thomas explained his recovery process and when he hopes to return from his injury.

“Right now it is day-to-day and hoping I can go this week,” Thomas said. “If not this week, the same with next week. Either way, I will be back very soon. The wait will be 100% worth it.”

Thomas is still working to make his return to the team this week. He did not guarantee a return for this week’s game and said he will try to return as soon as he can.

Thomas, a graduate senior, played in most of last season’s games. He finished the 2021 season with 21 total tackles and 3.5 sacks. When he returns, he will be a force on Clemson’s defensive line.

Clemson is scheduled to take on NC State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
