AJ Griffin ties career-high with 22 points in win over Louisville
AJ Griffin scored a game-high 22 points in Duke’s 74-65 win over Louisville on Saturday afternoon.
Griffin hit several big shots in the second half as Louisville attempted to come back from a 16-point deficit. The Cardinals tied the game at one point in the second half, but Griffin hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spring a 12-0 Duke run.
From there, the Blue Devils never lost control. The win gives the Blue Devils their third straight victory and keeps pace with the other teams atop the ACC standings.
Griffin’s 22 points matches his career-high from earlier this season. He also scored 22 points against Wake Forest back on Jan. 12.
Paolo Banchero scored 11 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Mark Williams (14 points) and Wendell Moore Jr. (10 points) were the only other players to score in double figures.
Trevor Keels missed his third straight game since suffering a lower leg injury vs. Florida State earlier this month. There’s still no timetable for his return.
For Louisville, this was the first game of the Mike Pegues era. The Cardinals parted ways with coach Chris Mack earlier this week.
Duke will be in action again on Monday at Notre Dame.
