Breaking down Duke's 2022 recruiting class so far
It’s been a tough few years for Duke on the field, but the Blue Devils are still getting by on the recruiting trail.
Despite going to 2-9 last year and opening the 2021 campaign with a loss to Northern Illinois, Duke currently has a top-50 recruiting class with room to grow.
If David Cutcliffe and his staff are able to close on this class, it will be the second in the last five years that finishes in the top-50 of the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The Blue Devils currently have five players from North Carolina in this class, but they didn’t have trouble recruiting outside the region. They also have key commitments from players in Ohio, Texas and New York.
Here’s a break down of Duke’s 2022 recruiting class as it current stands:
Class ranking: No. 9 ACC, No. 47 nationally
Total commits: 16
Blue-chip commits: 0
Highest-rated offensive player: 3-star IOL Steven Nahmias | No. 627 overall | No. 23 IOL | Atlanta, Georgia
Highest-rated defensive player: 3-star CB Chandler Rivers | No. 699 overall | No. 67 CB | Beaumont, Texas
Final thoughts: This class checks a lot of boxes considering Duke’s lack of access to elite talent. Duke has commitments from several key players in its home state and the class overall is at — or above — the program’s recent standard on the recruiting trail.
