Dariq Whitehead is doubtful to return to Duke’s ACC matchup against Virginia Tech with a lower leg injury, the team announced Monday night.

Whitehead suffered the injury jumping for a ball at the start of the 2nd half. The video of the injury is below, making it look like a potential ankle/Achilles injury.

Hopefully this does not turn out to be too serious for the freshman, though it does not look good after initial viewing.

Whitehead has been a solid rotational piece for the Blue Devils so far this season. He had 10 points against the Hokies before suffering the injury.

Duke is struggling in its own right, with and without Whitehead on the floor. Virginia Tech, which has lost 7 straight, leads by 5 at home with under 5 minutes remaining. A loss of this magnitude would be Duke’s worst on the year alongside Wake Forest earlier in the year.

Still, there’s plenty of time for Jon Scheyer’s squad to make a run.
