Dariq Whitehead receives status for Duke’s rivalry matchup vs. UNC

Dariq Whitehead is Duke’s 5th leading scorer this season as a true freshman. Unfortunately, Whitehead has been injured since Jan. 23.

Early Saturday afternoon, the Blue Devils announced that Whitehead will indeed miss his 3rd straight game since getting injured against Virginia Tech. Whitehead will miss the matchup against UNC Saturday evening with an injury head coach Jon Scheyer has indicated as a sprain of the lower left leg.

Prior to the injury, Whitehead had appeared in 22 games while averaging 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists. He is also one of the team’s top s

hooting threats after starting the season shooting 37.3% from 3-point range.

Whitehead joined the Blue Devils as a 5-star prospect and the No. 2 player in the country for the class of 2022 per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Duke will hope to get him back quickly with games against ranked opponents in Miami and Virginia looming after the rivalry matchup with the Tar Heels.
