Dariq Whitehead is ready to return at a high level after dealing with a foot injury.

Whitehead said that he is now physically and mentally 100% after a slow start to the season. Whitehead suffered a foot injury during the offseason and has been slowly working his way back.

Based on his most recent comments to the media, Whitehead felt that he was back to normal and was at the level prior to his injury. Whitehead underwent surgery on his foot in October and missed several games in the 1st month of the season.

Part of his process to fully recover came after speaking with family members during Duke’s holiday break. Whitehead described his conversations with family as “tough love” as they helped him get into the right mindset for the rest of the season.

In 10 games, Whitehead averaged 7.6 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game for Duke. In his last game, Whitehead scored 16 points in 28 minutes vs. Florida State. That was Whitehead’s 2nd double-digit game of the season.

If he can stay on the floor, Whitehead will be an important part of Duke’s season. He was projected to be a lottery pick in the 2023 NBA Draft prior to the start of the season.

The Blue Devils will be on the road against NC State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
