Duke officially announced Jonathan Brewer as its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on Tuesday.

Brewer comes to Duke from SMU, where he worked under Rhett Lashlee, Manny Diaz’s offensive coordinator at Miami. He was SMU’s quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator  in 2022 and ’23.

Brewer previously worked with Diaz and Lashlee, as senior offensive quality control coach at the University of Miami from 2020 to 2021. Brewer has also held career coaching and staff positions at Auburn and UConn.

Brewer replaced Kevin Johns, who was Duke’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.

The Blue Devils recently capped a 2023 campaign where they compiled an 8-5 record. The Blue Devils started their season at 4-0, but went 4-5 the rest of the way.

Duke met Troy in the 76 Birmingham Bowl, where they defeated the Trojans by a 17-10 score.

Junior wide receiver Jordan Moore anchored the Blue Devils’ offense with 82 receptions, 835 yards and eight touchdowns. On the ground, senior tailback Jordan Waters carried the ball 153 times for 819 yards an 12 scores.

Junior quarterback Riley Leonard led Duke for the first seven games of the season, but suffered a season-ending ankle injury in November. Freshman QB Grayson Loftis took over and compiled 1,006 passing yards, eight TDs and four interceptions.
