Duke lost to Georgia Tech 72-68 on Saturday afternoon in its ACC opener.

It’s a bad loss for the Blue Devils, who were double-digit road favorites against the Yellow Jackets in this game. Duke is now 5-3 on the year and 0-1 in ACC play.

Shooting woes ended up dooming Duke in this game. The Blue Devils shot just 4-of-16 from beyond the arc and only 12-of-20 from the free throw line. The Blue Devils shot 41.9% from the floor in the loss.

This is Duke’s first alarming loss of the season. Georgia Tech entered Saturday ranked outside of KenPom’s top 100 division I programs. The Yellow Jackets lost to UMass Lowell a couple of weeks ago.

The Blue Devils are now 1-3 this year against power-conference opponents. Duke also has losses to Arizona and Arkansas and a win over Michigan State.

Duke will not play another ACC opponent until after the new year. Next up is a meeting with Charlotte on Dec. 9.
