Duke cruises to win over Georgia Tech in return from COVID-19 pause
Duke handled its business on Tuesday night against Georgia Tech, defeating the Yellow Jackets 69-57 in Durham.
This was Duke’s first game since going on a COVID-19 pause following its win over Virginia Tech on Dec. 22. The Blue Devils are now 2-0 in ACC play this year.
Paolo Banchero was once again Duke’s main driver offensively. He scored 17 points on 4-of-8 shooting thanks to a game-high 16 free throw attempts. Georgia Tech only attempted 12 free throws as a team.
Banchero and center Mark Williams were also effective defensively. Both players ended up with 3 blocks on the night and grabbed double-digit rebounds. Banchero also added 2 steals.
The relatively comfortable win came despite Duke’s off shooting night. The Blue Devils made just 37.3 percent of their field goals, but got to the line 40 times (and made 26 shots).
Duke will now prepare to face Miami on Saturday. The Hurricanes are off to a 3-0 start so far in ACC play. Tipoff is at 8:00 p.m. ET.
