Duke dominates Arkansas, advances to Final Four for 1st time since 2015
Duke was dominant in a 78-69 victory over Arkansas in the Elite Eight on Saturday night.
The Blue Devils have clinched a spot in the Final Four, which will take place next weekend in New Orleans. They will face either North Carolina or Saint Peter’s.
Duke and North Carolina have never met in the NCAA Tournament.
Duke center Mark Williams and forward Paolo Banchero both had huge games. Williams set the tone in the first half with 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting plus two blocks. He finished the game with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Banchero was Duke’s best offensive player for much of this game. He scored 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while getting the free throw line 8 times. He also had a team-high 3 assists.
Freshman AJ Griffin was excellent as well. He scored 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting and made several difficult shots.
This is Mike Krzyzewski’s 13th Final Four appearance. That breaks a tie with legendary UCLA coach John Wooden for the most Final Four trips in the history of college basketball.
