Duke moves up 2 spots in latest AP Top 25 poll
Duke is now No. 7 in the country after putting together another 2-0 record last week, according to the latest AP Top 25 poll.
That’s a two-spot jump for the Blue Devils, who have now won five games in a row. Most recently, they defeated North Carolina by 20 points on the Tar Heels’ home floor.
Duke’s winning streak has been keyed by the continued emergence of freshman AJ Griffin. He’s averaging an efficient 16.4 points per game over that span, with shooting splits of 53.4%/60.9%/75%.
That 60.9% from 3-point range isn’t on a low volume, either — he’s made 14-of-23 long range attempts over those five games.
Paolo Banchero also continues to play like an ACC Player of the Year candidate. He’s now averaging 17.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest this season.
Duke remains the only ranked team in the ACC. Wake Forest, who is tied with Duke at 9 ACC wins, is receiving votes. The Demon Deacons will likely crack the next top-25 if they can get wins over NC State and Miami this week.
Duke faces Virginia on Monday night.
