Duke moves up to No. 6 in latest AP Poll

Duke moved up two spots to No. 6 overall in the latest AP Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday afternoon.

No other ACC team made the Top 25 this week, although North Carolina and Miami are now receiving votes. Gonzaga, Auburn, Arizona, Purdue and B

aylor make up the top five this week.

The Blue Devils went 2-0 this week, scoring double-digit wins over Wake Forest and NC State. The victory over the Demon Deacons was their first road ACC win of the season.

This week brought a significant turning point in Duke’s season. Freshman AJ Griffin was inserted into the starting lineup and responded with 22 points vs. Wake Forest. He played a quieter role offensively vs. NC State, but his defense still helped slow down the Wolf Pack.

Center Mark Williams was sensational vs. NC S

tate. He scored a season-high 19 points and blocked a staggering 8 shots, which was good enough for a new career high. He’s now averaging 3.4 blocks per game on the season.

Paolo Banchero continues to be a steady source of offense for the Blue Devils. He scored 20+ points in both games this week while shooting 55.9 percent from the field.

Duke has a big week ahead. The Blue Devils face a determined Florida State squad on Tuesday before hosting Syracuse on Saturday. Tipoff vs. the Seminoles is at 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
