Duke reaches top-5 KenPom ranking for the first time this season

Duke has been one of the nation’s best teams all season long, but it has not always had the respect of one of the nation’s leading college basketball analytics sites.

The Blue Devils began the year at No. 10 nationally according to KenPom.com

, and has bounced around between No. 6 and No. 12 throughout the year.

But as of Sunday afternoon, Duke is KenPom’s No. 5 team in the nation following its blowout win over Syracuse on Saturday.

Of course, this doesn’t guarantee Duke better results in March — but it does indicate that the Blue Devils are true Final Four contenders and should be heavily considered for a No. 1 seed.

Duke is also rising in the NET rankings

. The Blue Devils are No. 9 nationally according to that model, which marks the first time they’ve been in the top-10 since Jan. 7.

They were also the only top-seven team to win on Saturday, which means they’re likely to rise significantly in Monday’s updated AP Top-25 poll.

Duke has two games remaining on its regular season schedule — at Pitt and vs. North Carolina in Durham. Tipoff vs. Pitt is at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.
