Duke reportedly updates status for Riley Leonard vs. Louisville

Duke quarterback Riley Leonard will be a game-time decision for Saturday’s contest at No. 18 Louisville, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

However, there’s “optimism” that the junior Leonard will play for No. 20 Duke despite a recent re-injury of a high ankle sprain that occurred during last weekend’s 38-20 loss at Florida State.

Thamel notes that Leonard will go through warm-ups to determine whether he’s good to go to play.

The 6-foot-4, 212-pound Leonard has passed for 981 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions with a 71.7 QBR. His best performa

nce this season was when he passed for 248 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions while also adding a rushing score in a 41-7 win at UConn.

This will be a key game in the ACC standings. Duke has a 5-2 overall record with a 2-1 mark in conference play. Louisville is 6-1 overall while being 3-1 in ACC games. The winner would have a leg up to possibly advance to the ACC title game likely against Florida State.

Louisville leads the all-time series 3-0 against Duke. Louisville won the last meeting in a massive 62-22 rout in 2021 at Duke. Duke has never lost by fewer than double digits against Louisville.

Duke at Louisville is slated for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff and will be televised on ESPN.
