Duke softball fell to Stanford in the Super Regional round of the 2023 NCAA Softball Tournament Saturday morning.

The Blue Devils fought valiantly Friday and Saturday morning, but fell to No. 8 Stanford 3-1 and 7-2, respectively. With that, their season ends following a 48-12.

This comes after Duke soared through its regional round, sweeping George Mason and Charlotte to move on to face the Cardinal. Stanford now advances to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2004.

Duke jumped to a 1-0 lead to start things off early Saturday morning, but the bats went away after that. Stanford added 2 runs of their own in the first inning and never looked back on the way to a 5-run win.

Stanford will find out their next opponent following the conclusion of the Super Regionals. The WCWS starts June 1 in Oklahoma City.
