Banchero was also named 1st team All-ACC this season and was named the conference’s Freshman of the Year.
No other ACC player made the Associated Press’ top three All-America teams. North Carolina center Armando Bacot and Wake Forest guard Alondes Williams were named to the honorable mention team.
In addition to being a prolific scorer, Banchero has arguably been Duke’s best passer this season. He averages 3.1 assists per game from the power forward position.
Banchero is expected to leave Durham for the NBA Draft following this season. He’s currently in the mix to go No. 1 overall, alongside Gonzaga’s Chet Holmgren and Auburn’s Jabari Smith Jr.
Duke faces Cal State Fullerton at 7:10 p.m. ET in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
