However, Devoe told reporters after the game that it was a misunderstanding. He was attempting to “compete” with Duke’s bench and said he didn’t mean any disrespect toward Krzyzewski. He also said he apologized after the game.
Devoe, "I guess (Coach K) took it the wrong way because for some reason, but I have the utmost respect for him. I went and apologized after the game and everything like that, but I don't know which way he took it." Devoe said he said something to their bench not coach K.

Devoe on coach K's response, "He said you don't know who you're talking to. But I was just trying to compete with them. That's all there was. So I guess he took it the wrong way. But me as a competitor I want to beat Duke."

Devoe has been one of the ACC’s best players so far this season. He scored 21 points vs. the Blue Devils in Tuesday night’s defeat, with most of that production coming in the second half.
Krzyzewki is now 61-19 all-time against Georgia Tech.
This was Duke’s return to action after a lengthy COVID-19 pause that caused the postponement of two ACC games. The Blue Devils are now 2-0 in conference play.
Duke hosts Notre Dame on Saturday.
