Georgia Tech star Michael Devoe and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski exchanged words during the Blue Devils’ 69-57 win on Tuesday night.

The incident appeared to be contentious. Here’s a clip from the broadcast:

However, Devoe told reporters after the game that it was a misunderstanding. He was attempting to “compete” with Duke’s bench and said he didn’t mean any disrespect toward Krzyzewski. He also said he apologized after the game.

Devoe has been one of the ACC’s best players so far this season. He scored 21 points vs. the Blue Devils in Tuesday night’s defeat, with most of that production coming in the second half.

Krzyzewki is now 61-19 all-time against Georgia Tech.

This was Duke’s return to action after a lengthy COVID-19 pause that caused the postponement of two ACC games. The Blue Devils are now 2-0 in conference play.

Duke hosts Notre Dame on Saturday.
