Jon Scheyer updated Dariq Whitehead’s injury status after Duke’s game against Kansas on Tuesday night.

Following Duke’s 69-64 loss to Kansas, Scheyer indicated that it will be unlikely for Whitehead to make his season debut this week.

“Probably not Friday,” Scheyer said.

Whitehead has missed the first three games of the season. In the offseason, Whitehead suffered a foot injury and has been recovering since then. Scheyer did note that Whitehead has made progress in his recovery process.

In the class of 2022, Whitehead was a 5-star recruit and the No. 2 player in the country, according to 247 Sports Composite rankings. He was the centerpiece of Duke’s recruiting class for this season and he will be viewed as an impact player for the Blue Devils. Whitehead picked Duke over Kansas and Florida State.

If Whitehead is able to meet the lofty expectations, he could be a potential lottery pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Duke has at least four games left in November and Whitehead could return to the team before the end of the month.

Duke hosts Delaware on Friday.
