Jon Scheyer speaks to Duke softball ahead of NCAA Regional action

Jon Scheyer is quickly making a name for himself in his second act as a leader at Duke. The head men’s basketball coach met with Duke’s softball squad on Thursday to talk with the team ahead of its NCAA Regional action on Friday.

The Blue Devils (45-10) are hosting as the No. 8 seed in the tournament. They’ll face George Mason at noon ET on Friday. Charlotte and Campbell play later in the day.

Duke is coming off a runner-up finish at the 2023 ACC Championship, falling 2-1 to No. 3 Florida State. Still, it’s a third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance for the program. The No. 8 seed is the best in program history and, a year after making it to the Super Regional round for the first time ever, Duke has a chance to host the Super Regionals for the first time in program history.

Scheyer, who piloted a 27-9 campaign for Blue Devil basketball in his debut season, talked to the team Thursday about having “one vision.”
