Mike Krzyzewski gives emotional, impromptu speech to Duke fans after North Carolina loss
Duke suffered a stunning 94-81 loss to North Carolina on Saturday evening, spoiling Mike Krzyzewski’s final home game as the Blue Devils’ head coach.
A ceremony honoring Krzyzewski’s legacy was planned for shortly after the game. Prior to its start, Krzyzewski decided to address the crowd — and the disappointing result vs. the Tar Heels.
“This isn’t part of the program, this is impromptu by me. I’m sorry about this afternoon,” he said, before asking the crowd to quiet down. “It’s unacceptable. Today was unacceptable. But the season has been very acceptable … and I’ll tell you, the season isn’t over.”

This is a tough loss for Duke, but mostly for sentimental reason. The Blue Devils have still captured the ACC regular season title and will still be the No. 1 seed at the ACC Tournament next week.
Duke also still has a chance to at being a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament if it wins the conference. The Blue Devils had won seven straight games before tonight’s loss.
Krzyzewski is now 50-45 all-time against North Carolina.
