Report: Duke will postpone 2 upcoming ACC games due to COVID-19

Duke is expected to postpone two ACC games this week as it deals with COVID-19 issues within the program.

The news was first reported by Carolina Blitz and has since been confirmed by multiple outlets. The Blue Devils were scheduled t

o face Clemson on Wednesday and Notre Dame on Saturday.

Instead, Duke will enter a COVID pause as it tries to limit the spread of the virus. Duke is expected to work with Clemson and Notre Dame to reschedule these contests for later in the year.

The ACC adjusted its forfeit policy last week, so these games will be ruled a “no contest” until they’re rescheduled. Previously, Duke would have been forced to forfeit those games.

The Blue Devils a

re far from the only program across the country who’s dealing with similar issues. College basketball, college football, NBA and NFL teams have been dealing with outbreaks on a larger scale for the last couple weeks.

This pause comes at an inconvenient time for the Blue Devils, who just started conference play last week. Duke is 11-1 and the No. 2 team in the country, per the latest AP Top 25 poll.

Duke’s next scheduled game is vs. Georgia Tech on Jan. 4.
