Duke guard Trevor Keels has decided to enter the NBA Draft after 1 season in Durham.

Keels made that announcement on Saturday afternoon.

This is a somewhat surprising decision for Keels, as he’s currently projected as a fringe 1st round pick. ESPN’s latest mock draft has Keels going No. 27 overall. Other outlets have him slipping into the second round.

However, Keels could have the option to return to school if he doesn’t get the desired feedback from NBA scouts during the pre-draft process. The deadline for Keels to pull out of the draft pool is June 1.

If he does stay in the draft, it’s a big blow for he Blue Devils in 2022-23. He would have been a veteran presence on a team that is welcoming in the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class this offseason. Teammates Paolo Banchero, Wendell Moore Jr. and Mark Williams are all entering the NBA Draft.

However, point guard Jeremy Roach

Former coach Mike Krzyzewski released a statement on Keels’ decision.
