Step aside, Jalen Hurts. Tiki Barber says Daniel Jones will overtake Hurts as the top quarterback in the NFC East.

Barber recently shared his thoughts on WFAN. Barber points to New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll’s work with developing Josh Allen. Daboll was previously with the Buffalo Bills before becoming head coach of the Giants. Jones, a former Duke quarterback, gives Daboll a lot to work with as a developer.

“Daniel Jones is in a situation right now with the Giants, Mike Kafka, more importantly, Brian Daboll, where he is going to be coached into a top-10 quarterback,” Barber said. “I believe that. I truly believe that, maybe that’s because I have blind faith in the Giants coaching staff. But I also know because of his skillset. He’s 6-foot-5, he’s big, doesn’t have to move out of the pocket to see crossing routes and throws and digs over the middle. He can stand right where he needs to stand and deliver every single throw. And if he needs to run, he’ll go run. He had 700 yards and seven touchdowns this year.

Jones’ tools plus Daboll’s coaching means the former Blue Devil will become the NFC East’s leading QB, according to Barber.

“He is going to be the best quarterback in the NFC East,” Barber said. “I know that Jalen Hurts is a stud, I know that he’s amazing, got all these accolades, but he’s also got a lot around him.”

We’ll see how Barber’s long-term prediction works out. In 2022, Jones’ fourth season, the Giants QB was 317-of-472 passing for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. As Barber mentioned, Jones also ran for 708 yards and 7 scores.
