Breaking down Florida State's 2022 recruiting class so far
It’s been a disappointing year on the field for Florida State, but the Seminoles are closing in on a stellar 2022 recruiting class.
That’s just a small silver lining in the grand scheme of things, but FSU upgrading its overall roster talent is a necessary step in the right direction. If Mike Norvell and his staff can close on key targets — and keep the commitments they already have — this should be a top-10 class nationally come February.
Florida State’s class currently ranks No. 3 in the ACC and No. 13 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. With 16 commitments already in the fold, there’s still plenty of room for Norvell to continue to grow this class before the Early Signing Period in December.
Here’s a breakdown of FSU’s 2022 recruiting class as it currently stands:
Class ranking: 1st in ACC, 11th nationally
Total commits: 16
Blue-chip commits (4-and-5-star prospects): 6
Highest-rated offensive player: 4-star QB AJ Duffy | No. 82 overall | No. 6 QB | Bradenton, Fla.
Highest-rated defensive player: 5-star CB Travis Hunter | No. 2 overall | No. 1 CB | Suwanee, Georgia
Final thoughts: This is a top-heavy class for Florida State so far, which includes 11 3-star prospects. However, the high end is exceptional — a 5-star DB in Travis Hunter, a promising QB prospect in AJ Duffy and several more blue-chip prospects. There’s room for improvement, but this FSU class is in good shape right now.
