College Football Playoff selection committee reveals final ranking for Florida State
The College Football Playoff selection committee has released its final rankings for the 2023 season.
Florida State landed outside of the College Football Playoff top 4 on Sunday, meaning the Noles will not participate in the College Football Playoff.
FSU becomes the first team to not be included in the top 4 after going 13-0 in a power 5 conference. Florida State loses out to pair of one-loss programs in Alabama and Texas who both reached the College Football Playoff after securing conference championships on Sunday.
On Sports Center on Sunday morning, Mike Norvell made the case for why the Noles should be in the top 4.
“I’ve got absolute confidence that we’re going to get our opportunity and as we sit there and you go through the journey and there’s plenty of talented teams out there,” Norvell said. “There’s plenty of teams that obviously they get their chance too, but you’ve got to go do it on the field, that’s what makes college football so special. This team, every chance that we’ve got whether it’s home, away, the adversity we’ve had to overcome, they’ve just responded.”
The injury to Jordan Travis proved too much overcome for FSU’s Playoff case. Tate Rodemaker and Brock Glenn led FSU to wins over the past two weeks, but it wasn’t enough to convince the committee that FSU is one of the four best teams in the country.
FSU will now go to the Orange Bowl to represent the ACC.
