Dalvin Cook expected to be released by Minnesota Vikings, per report

Dalvin Cook could soon be a free agent for the first time in his career.

The former Florida State standout is expected to be released by the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, according to a report. ProFootballTalk was first to share that news.

The report also notes that Cook could still be traded prior to his release:

Cook is set to enter his 7th NFL season. He’s been one of the best running backs in the NFL since he entered the league out of Florida State in 2017.

He’s been to the Pro Bowl in 4 consecutive seasons and has rushed for 5,993 yards during his time in the NFL. He’s gone over the 1,000-yard bench mark in each of the last 4 campaigns.

Cook has also been effective in the passing game. He has 1,794 receiving yards in this career and 5 straight seasons of at least 200 yards through the air.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos are amongst the teams in contention to acquire Cook this week.
