End of the Dan Mullen era? Florida fans are furious after blowout loss to South Carolina
The Dan Mullen era may be nearing an end in Gainesville.
Florida lost 40-17 to South Carolina on Saturday, moving the Gators to 4-5 on the season and 21-12 in SEC play since Mullen took over in 2018.
The Gators also dealt with controversy during the week. Mullen’s dismissal of a recruiting question — and the subsequent backlash — caused the Gators to cancel all media availability for the week.
South Carolina put up a season-high 40 points on the Gators’ struggling defense. Quarterback Jason Brown became the third Gamecock QB to start a game this year, and he did well. He completed 14-of-24 passes for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Kevin Harris and Zaquandre White each rushed for over 100 yards as well and averaged more than 8 yards per carry.
This loss could put Florida’s athletic department in a difficult spot this week. Mullen has a buyout of $12 million if he’s fired this season, but fans are asking for a change at head coach.

@ScottStricklin dosent give a crap. We hired a bad athletic director and we are going to be paying for that for a long time. Foley wouldn’t have gave some of the extensions he gave and he would fire Mullen today.

In Dan Mullen’s 4th year at UF, with his own hand picked 4th year QB starting, the gators were blown out by an unranked team to go 4-5… UF at its lowest since McElwain. Not much reason for the fans to be optimistic. Top recruits don’t seem to want to come here.
