ESPN updates bowl projections for Florida State after Week 4
ESPN has updated its bowl projections for all of college football after week 4.
Florida State had a big week as it defeated Clemson 31-24 in overtime on the road. The Seminoles are now 4-0 this season with a pair of signature wins.
Despite the victory, Florida State has been bumped down a bit in ESPN’s updated bowl projections. Both Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach now have Florida State going to the Orange Bowl.
Last week, both ESPN analysts were projecting FSU to reach the College Football Playoff. But the Noles were knocked out of the top 4 this week in favor of a Washington team that has 4 blowout wins so far this season.
Here’s some analysis from Schlabach on why the Noles fell out of top 4 this week:
Florida State falls out after its 31-24 overtime victory at Clemson. The Seminoles probably should have lost that game in regulation, but most championship teams have a close call or two, so there’s not much reason for alarm in Tallahassee.
Florida State still has plenty of opportunities to improve its résumé before the end of the season. Ranked teams such as Duke, Miami and Florida remain on FSU’s schedule. The Seminoles would also likely face a ranked opponent in the ACC Championship Game, if they get there.
FSU is idle in Week 5.
