Everything is coming up Noles

Top 25, here come the Noles.

After routing visiting Boston College 44-14 Saturday night, the Florida State Seminoles are 4-0 for the first time since 2015.

The Noles dominated from the opening kickoff – literally. Trey Benson took that kick back for a 93-yard touchdown, and FSU led 37-0 during the 3rd before emptying its bench.

By virtue of the vote total, FSU essentially ranked 27th in the country last week in the Associated Press poll.

Look for FSU now to zoom past No. 20 Florida, No. 22 Texas and No. 25 Miami, all defeated Saturday.

FSU is among just 4 undefeated ACC teams, joined by Clemson, North Carolina State and Syracuse.

Here’s what we’ve learned about the Noles just past the quarter-pole of the season:

1. It has been a dream start

Not only are the Noles 4-0, but their main rivals – the aforementioned Gators and Hurricanes – each are 2-2 and struggling.

Those good vibes in Tallahassee surely are helping them on the recruiting trail as they earned a commitment Friday from their top recruit so far in this cycle, wide receiver Hykeem Williams, ranked No. 22 in the nation.

The fact that Williams is from Hurricane Country – Stranahan High in Fort Lauderdale – makes this all the better for FSU.

FSU also has a commitment from 4-star defensive end Lamont Green Jr., who is from Miami’s Gulliver Prep.

2. Travis is tough

Jordan Travis continues to improve.

Coming off a leg injury last week, Travis passed for a career-high 321 yards against Boston College, completing 16 of 26 throws.

Travis led the Noles to 4 1st-half scoring drives to help give FSU a 31-0 lead at the break. That marked FSU’s largest halftime lead over an ACC school since 2013.

Here’s the most telling stat on Travis: In his past 13 starts, FSU is 10-3.

3. FSU’s simple formula

The Noles dominated the run game and won the turnover battle against Boston College.

FSU didn’t turn the ball over and picked up interceptions from Greedy Vance and Omarion Cooper.

On the ground, FSU rushed for 180 yards and a 5.1 average. The Noles held BC to 95 yards and a 2.8 average.

4. The fans are excited

Saturday’s game was FSU’s first sellout since 2016 as 79,560 folks crammed into Doak Campbell Stadium.

Things should get even crazier next weekend as the Noles host the high-scoring Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

ABC already has announced it wants the game for its 3:30 p.m. ET slot Saturday. Wake Forest is coming off an emotional 51-45, 2-overtime loss to ACC kingpin Clemson.

5. Noles want revenge

Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman, who beat FSU 35-14 last year, set a Demon Deacons program record with 6 touchdown passes this past weekend against Clemson.

During last year’s win against FSU, the Noles turned the ball over 6 times. However, Travis played as a reserve, and that obviously won’t be the case Saturday.

Then again, Wake Forest has beaten FSU in 2 straight meetings, both started by Hartman.

Hartman was a freshman starter in 2018 the last time FSU beat Wake Forest.
