Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson is confident in his team ahead of this week’s game against Florida State.

Richardson predicted that Florida would beat Florida State on Friday and build momentum off of the win. Richardson made the bold prediction to the media on Monday.

“When we win this one it will definitely build momentum for us,” Richardson said.

That’s potential bulletin board material for the Noles. This is an important rivalry game in the state and the winner will hold bragging rights for the next year.

The Gators are coming off of a frustrating 31-24 loss to Vanderbilt in Week 12. Richardson passed for 400 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. On defense, the Gators struggled to limit touchdowns against Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt quarterback Mike Wright threw for 3 touchdowns, 1 interception, and 108 passing yards against the Gators. Florida will hope to have a better performance against Florida State.

In Week 12, Florida State recorded a 49-17 win over Louisiana. The Seminoles head into the game against Florida with an 8-3 record. In the all-time series, Florida holds a 37-26-2 lead over Florida State.

In 2021, Florida defeated Florida State, 24-21. In that game, Richardson passed for 55 yards and 1 touchdown. In this season’s meeting, Richardson will need to have a big performance against Florida State to back up his proclamation.

Florida State will host Florida on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
