Florida State defeated Florida in Gainesville on Wednesday night thanks to a 10th inning solo home run from Sydney Sherrill.

Florida State trailed for much of this game, but picked up a run in the 6th inning to send the game into extra innings. Both teams then went scoreless until the 10th, when Sherrill came through with one of the biggest regular season homers in her career.

Take a look:

Florida State ultimately won 4-2 after tacking on another run on a Krystina Hartley sac fly. Hartley also drove in the game-tying run in the 6th inning.

Kathryn Sandercock pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief and earned the win. She’s now 19-0 on the season.

This is another huge win for a Seminoles team that was already ranked No. 3 in the country. Florida State is now 36-2 overall and has 7 wins over ranked teams. Victories over Alabama, UCLA and the Gators should look especially impressive when the selection committee is building out the field for the Women’s College World Series.

Florida State has a massive series this weekend against another top-5 team in Virginia Tech. The Hokies enter this series with a perfect 11-0 record in ACC play.
