Florida State cancels classes due to Hurricane Ian, but football team still planning to practice

This will be an interesting week for Florida State with Hurricane Ian looming.

The university announced it will be shutting down classes for the rest of this week, beginning Tuesday, due to the storm’s potential impact. The entire campus will be closed Thursday and Friday.

However, the Seminoles will still practice as normal on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, a team spokesperson said Monday.

Florida State is scheduled to host Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon in a matchup that could have big implications on the ACC title race.

Coach Mike Norvell said Monday that the athletic department has been in contact with the ACC in case “alternate plans” need to be made

. FSU athletic director Michael Alford also released a statement Monday saying the program was closely monitoring the storm.

There will likely be more updates throughout the week as Hurricane Ian continues to develop.
