Florida State picked up a big season-opening win over Penn on Wednesday night.

The Seminoles controlled the game from start to finish, eventually winning 105-70. Senior forward Malik Osborne led the way with 18 points.

Osborne was one of four Seminoles to score in double figures. He was joined by Anthony Polite (17), Caleb Mills (14) and RayQuan Evans (14).

Osborne also had a game-high 13 rebounds, including 6 on the offensive end. After the game, coach Leonard Hamilton acknowledged Osborne’s growth as a player over the last year.

“He has a confidence now,” Hamilton said. “He understands our system. He understands our culture. He’s displaying that by going hard with every possession. He seems to be connecting the dots.”

Although the quality of competition isn’t ACC-caliber, this is a good start to an important year for Florida State. The Seminoles are one of the favorites in the conference alongside Duke and North Carolina.

FSU will be back in action again on Sunday against Florida.
