Florida State has added a kicker to its roster for next season.

On Friday evening, the Noles earned a commitment from All-Southern Conference kicker Tyler Keltner. He has spent the last 4 seasons at East Tennessee State.

Here’s his announcement:

While at East Tennessee State, Keltner proved himself as one of the best kickers in the conference. He made 56-of-74 attempts over his 4-year career with the Buccaneers. He also went a perfect 131-for-131 on extra point attempts.

In 2022, Keltner made 17-of-23 field goal attempts and was a perfect 38-for-38 on extra points. He was named first-team All-Southern Conference for his performance.

Keltner is originally a Tallahassee native. He attended Lawton Chiles High School and was a member of the class of 2019.

Keltner is presumably joining Florida State to provide some competition for incumbent starting kicker Ryan Fitzgerald. He finished the season strong, but Fitzgerald struggled at times in 2022. Fitzgerald was just 12-for-20 on field goals this season.

Fitzgerald’s struggles peaked in FSU’s 31-21 loss to Wake Forest on Oct. 1. He missed 2 crucial field goals in that game. However, he went on to have just 3 more misses for the rest of the season — with 2 of those from beyond 50 yards.
