Sampson is an elite prospect in the class of 2023. He’s the No. 201-ranked player and the No. 28 defensive lineman in this class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
He chose Florida State over offers from programs like Auburn, Notre Dame, Miami and Clemson.
Sampson is listed at 6-foot-3, 285 pounds. He attends New Bern High School in New Bern, North Carolina.
This is a big addition for Mike Norvell and his staff. The Seminoles now have five commitments in the class of 2023. The class ranks No. 17 nationally and No. 2 in the ACC, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Sampson is FSU’s second-highest-ranked recruit so far. 4-star EDGE Lamont Green Jr. is the class’ top prospect, per 247Sports Composite rankings. The class is also led by 4-star quarterback prospect Chris Parson.
Prospects in the class of 2023 will be able to official sign with the school of their choice during the Early Signing Period in December.
