Florida State lands commitment from B1G receiver in transfer portal
Florida State picked up a commitment from Illinois receiver Deuce Spann late Friday night.
Spann is a converted quarterback who was one of the Illini’s best athletes in 2021. In his first season at receiver for Illinois, he caught 5 passes for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns in 7 games.

Spann is an elite athlete who could give the Seminoles a different look on offense next season. His combination of speed and quickness proved to be difficult for defenses in the Big Ten this season.
He had three receptions for 30+ yards this season. Spann missed nearly all of October with a hamstring injury, which is why he played in just 7 games this season.
Here’s a clip of one of his touchdown receptions this season:

He’s originally from St. Petersburgh, Florida, and attended Lakewood High School. Spann is listed at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds.
Spann just completed his redshirt freshman season, so he should have three years of eligibility remaining with the Seminoles.
