Florida State has added a former rival to its roster via the transfer portal.

FSU announced that Miami transfer defensive back Davonte Brown has signed with the Seminoles.

It is Brown’s second time transferring. The former American Heritage standout has spent his entire college football career in the Sunshine State.

Brown arrived at Miami in 2023 after playing his first three seasons at UCF. With the Hurricanes, Brown played in 11 games. He logged 10 total tackles, including 9 solo stops, on the season. He played in Miami’s game against FSU, but did not record a defensive statistic in the contest.

At UCF, Brown played in 36 games, making 31 starts. In 2022, he recorded 30 tackles, 2.5 TFLs and 2 interceptions. He led the team in pass breakups with 13 in 2021, earning All-AAC honors from Pro Football Focus.

Brown now reunites with Patrick Surtain Sr., his high school coach. Surtain is entering his second season on Mike Norvell’s staff.
