Florida State lands in top 20 of ESPN's ranking of undefeated teams
Florida State is in the top 20 of ESPN’s undefeated teams ranking, which was released on Tuesday morning.
ESPN college football writer Bill Connelly ranked Florida State No. 19 on this list out of 33 undefeated teams. Florida State is 3-0 with wins over Duquesne, LSU, and Louisville. The latest win over Louisville showed the team’s toughness and ability to earn a close road win.
Florida State overcome several key injuries and managed to beat a competitive Louisville team. With injuries to Jordan Travis, Jared Verse, and others, Florida State could be forced to play the next few games without those key players. Connelly discussed why he put Florida State at No. 19 on his list.
“An argument could be made to rank the Noles a few spots higher — their offense is wonderfully efficient, and they usually win the big-play battle — but we’ll see how long Travis, Verse & Co. are out.”
Connelly complimented Florida State’s resilience in the last week’s game. Backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker played will as a substitute for Travis for the second half, throwing a pair of key touchdown passes.
Aside from the Duquesne win, Florida State’s wins have been decided by 4 points or less. In 2021, Florida State started out the season with an 0-4 record. Based on how the 2022 season is looking, the Seminoles are ready to win close games.
Florida State will look to remain undefeated against Boston College on Saturday.
