Florida State lands in top 5 of ESPN’s way-too-early rankings for 2023

ESPN released its way-too-early rankings for next season

and Florida State landed in the top 5.

Florida State is ranked No. 4 in the early rankings. With high expectations, Florida State is expected to be one of the best teams in college football in 2023. Florida State closed out the season with a 35-32 win over Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl.

In 2022, Florida State finished the season with a 6-game winning streak. Over the course of the season, Florida State had a winning streak to start the season and endured a 3-game losing streak in October. After a 4-3 start through 7 games, Florida State went on a 6-game wi

nning streak to end the season.

ESPN college football writer Mark Schlabach explained why he ranked Florida State in the top 5:

“It has taken longer than Florida State hoped, but the Seminoles have finally turned the corner and might be a legitimate ACC title and CFP contender in 2023. In coach Mike Norvell’s third season, the Seminoles won 10 games for the first time since 2016 and won their last six contests,” Schlabach wrote.

Norvell and Florida State have an opportunity to record another 10-win season and reach the College Football Playoff for the 1st time since 2014. Florida State went 10-3 in 2022.
