Benson spent two years in Eugene, but was rarely healthy enough to play for the Ducks. Now fully recovered, he’s hoping to make a bigger impact in Tallahassee.

Benson suffered a serious knee injury back on Dec. 1, 2020. He tore multiple ligaments in his left knee and missed the remainder of that season for the Ducks. Benson carried the ball 6 times for 22 yards and 1 touchdown in 2021.

He’s originally from Greenville, Mississippi. He was was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Benson could see major playing time for Florida State next season. Jashaun Corbin, who led the team in 2021 with 887 yards, is leaving for the NFL Draft. That opens up a large percentage of FSU’s carries, and Benson will be a candidate to fill that role. Treshaun Ward, who rushed for 515 yards last season, is expected back in 2022.

This is Florida State’s 10th addition through the transfer portal this offseason.
